Hello wonderful people, please help me beg The Dife’s gatekeeper to open the GATES  and give way for the entrance of this post on Melinda Gates.

Melinda Gates, née Melinda Ann French(born 15th August 1964) is an American businesswoman, philanthropist, and a former general manager at Microsoft. She attended St. Monica Catholic School, where she was the top student in her class. She graduated as valedictorian at Ursuline Academy in 1982.

At age 14, Melinda was introduced to Apple II by her father, which later inspired her interest in computer games and the BASIC programming language. She went on to pursue this interest in college, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Duke University in 1986.

Melinda took a job at Microsoft Corporation in 1987. She started out as a product manager whose primary assignment was to develop multimedia and interactive products. She worked her way up to the post of general manager of information products over the course of her 9-year stay at the company.

Melinda’s experience of a male-dominated workplace at Microsoft inspired her to encourage more women in the computing field. She is known for being a source of inspiration to many females all over the world. Her passion for philanthropy was born in part by tragedy. At her wedding shower in 1993, her mother, who was suffering from a terminal illness, read her a serious letter which reportedly has a part quoted “to whom much is given, much is expected. Her mum died a few months later but Melinda kept her mother’s words to heart. In 2019, Melinda published a book titled, The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes The World.

The two lessons worth noting in Melinda Gates’ life are as follows:

First, she believes in the power of females as instruments to change the world. She proves this by empowering women all over the world and challenging them to take their rightful place in their chosen careers.

Secondly, she was introduced to computers in her early teenage days and she welcomed the opportunity, utilizing it properly and developing her computer skills. She is a computer geek today as a result of this.

Today, she is divorced after she and her husband Bill Gates announced in a joint statement on social media their decision to divorce, ending 27 years of marriage, and 34 years as a couple. The divorce was finalized on August 2, 2021. She has an estimated net worth of 6 billion USD and is a mother of three.

That’s all I have for you all on today’s edition of Chronicles of Greatness.

Adiós!
